The Discussion About Tariffs

I will interrupt my discussion on MVOSSTE and AI to create a new business to discuss an area that should be given a great deal of attention. The current White House administration is using tariffs to "make America wealthy again" and to insure our national security. Regarding making America wealthy again, it should be noted the U.S. is the wealthiest nation on earth and that it has about 30% of the world's wealth and less than 5% of the world's population. It should be noted that in 1960 the U.S. had 40% of the world's wealth and its share has declined. This decline, however, is not due to the U.S. economy shrinking it is due to economies in the rest of the world expanding at a faster rate than the U.S. This makes sense since smaller economies can double in size and still be very small when compared to the U.S. Back in the 1960s the advanced economies recognized it was important to help third world countries grow their economies so they could provide their citizens...

Creating a New Business Using AI and MVOSSTE Part III - Setting an Objective

In the last two posts I have used AI to create a mission and vision statement for a business that produces carrying cases successfully. In the mission and vision I chose to focus on the job that a carrying case does to provide a wider range of possible business options that have carrying cases as a centerpiece.  Now it is time to establish objectives that align with the mission and vision. When prompting AI you may need to restate the mission and vision when asking for a set of objectives. In this case I have been using the same ChatGPT file and the previous prompts and responses are "remembered" and built upon. Based on the mission and vision for this company (see the last two posts) AI provided the following objectives: 🗓️  1-Year Objectives (Foundation & Validation Phase) 1. Launch Foundational Product Line Design, develop, and release an initial set of 3–5 carrying or mobility-focused solutions addressing key “jobs to be done” (e.g., protection, portability, org...

Creating a New Business Using AI and MVOSSTE Part II - Vision Statement

In the previous post we looked at the AI assisted creation of a mission statement for a new company that had the skill of making carrying cases. It was noted that AI would respond to prompts based on the direction given. At the outset, by limiting AI to consider only carrying cases or individual travel needs, the mission statement could be limiting. By identifying the jobs a carrying case could do and directing AI to create a mission statement on the Clayton Christensen's "jobs to be done" approach, AI created a mission statement that was broader and more likely to withstand market and environment changes. Why is it important to have a mission statement that considers more than the current markets, products and environment? Because the mission statement if used properly can be used as a guiding light for all involved with the business on how to advance its success. Coca Cola's mission statement,  “ to refresh the world, bring moments of optimism and create value and ...

Creating a New Business Using AI and MVOSSTE - Mission Statement

By now most of you know that MVOSSTE stands for Mission, Vision, Objective, Situation Analysis, Strategy, Tactics and Execution. For the next few posts I will use AI and MVOSSTE to walk readers through the process of developing a new business. Developing is the first step in the process. A mission statement identifies the job you want your organization to do for its customers. Since situations and markets change over time you want you mission statement to broad enough to allow your business to thrive when technology, customers tastes, legal environments and the economy change. Let's say you have a skill in making carrying cases and would like to start a business catering to business travelers. If you think about it carrying cases is a subset of travel products and services. When considering this and the possibility of future developments, developing a mission statement could be a daunting exercise. Even after discussing a possible mission statement with colleagues you probably wou...
